Cosmelan

The Cosmelan treatment is recognised globally as the leading solution for depigmentation, effectively targeting unwanted pigmentation, dark spots, and excess melanin while preventing future occurrences.

Our in-clinic Cosmelan peel treatment is a professional system designed to tackle even the most stubborn dark spots with both efficacy and safety. Thanks to a unique dual action mechanism; corrective and regulatory, the Cosmelan peel delivers outstanding results both in the short and long term.

It not only removes melasma using active ingredients during the in-clinic session but also addresses the root cause by regulating the overproduction of pigment, thus managing pigment reoccurrence.

The Journey:

Prepare for 5-7 days of downtime.

The Cosmelan process begins with an in-clinic application, followed by at-home care with continuous support from your therapist post-treatment. Your journey includes the following in-clinic appointments:

  • First appointment: Cosmelan 1 application, 30 minutes

  • Second appointment: LED Facial (day 3 post), 30 minutes

  • Third appointment: LED Facial (day 6 post), 30 minutes

  • Fourth appointment: LED Facial 4-6 weeks post Cosmelan application

The treatment package also includes seven at-home retail products for your aftercare (valued at $1,088). You’ll receive the Cosmelan home pack, which contains everything required to follow the professional protocol and a home essentials kit. These products are necessary to complete the depigmentation process and supporting your skin post-treatment. A commitment of 6 months following the aftercare is crucial for optimal results. Treatment can be safely repeated every 6 months.

HOW DOES COSMELAN WORK?

The Cosmelan formula contains an exclusive combination of active ingredients with proven efficacy, which act on all stages of the hyperpigmentation process to completely eliminate existing hyperpigmentation, preventing both their reappearance and the appearance of new dark spots.

Regulating Action
Cosmelan works at two levels: At the first level by inhibiting the activation of tyrosinase inside the melanosome, reducing the oxidative stress, and thereby reducing melanin synthesis; at a second level, by containing copper chelators (Cu2+) tyrosinase function is reduced. Cosmelan acts by blocking the transfer of the melanosome to the keratinocytes, thereby preventing movement of the pigment to the superficial layers of the skin.

Corrective Action
It acts by reducing the amount of melanin synthesised, reducing the intensity of the dark spot. It also acts on the stratum corneum, stimulating the renewal of the epidermis and intensively eliminating the accumulation of melanin.

FAQ’s

  • With the Cosmelan peel we treat all types of skin blemishes of melanin synthesis, that is, spots originating due to melanin overproduction triggered by several factors ie. hormonal, genetic, post-acne, inflammatory hyperpigmentation, severe cases of pigmentation etc that worsen due to sun damage.

Therefore, this peel is effective to treat spots such as: melasma, new pigmentation, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentations (PIH), pigmented lesions, pigmentation concerns, solar, senile lentigo and freckles.

  • The Cosmelan treatment consists of four phases which are necessary to achieve the target result.

The first step performed is an intensive depigmentation mask, you are then prescribed a home treatment regimen to use post treatment.

The total duration of treatment is about 6 months, that can change based on the severity of the case.

You can safely have Cosmelan treatment 2 x per year.

  • This peel can give a misleading feeling of success, as there is a two phase process.

After your in clinic mask, the melanin has been removed from the outermost skin layers through intense depigmentation, and therefore we see the dark spots much more faded and your skin will feel tight, smooth and soft, but the origin of the skin condition has not been controlled yet.

The deeper layers of your skin contains melanocyte, a cell where melanin is produced. Post treatment your melanocyte is still uncontrolled and continues to produce a thick layer of excessive pigmentation (melanin).

Your Cosmelan homecare is a regular maintenance program that contains a tyrosinase inhibitor to re-educate the melanocyte and control melanin overproduction, which is important so that the cell returns to a normal active state to manage recurrence of skin pigmentation.

  • This chemical peel is non invasive meaning you can resume your activities of daily living normally. We just ask that the day of the mask being applied, you have chill day with minimal talking to prevent cracking in the mask.

After the third day you will begin to see skin shedding of dead skin cells and wound healing.

During the first week we recommend minimal exercise, swimming and sun exposure to aid the healing process of your skin, there is minimal discomfort and treatment results will begin to occur ensuring person wishes.
